During a fire fight, an enemy bullet missed Pop's chest by a fraction of an inch and passed right through a clip of 303 bullets, without setting them off, and struck the hand of the soldier fighting alonside him.

Dated on the back 1914 possibly given to him when he volunteered.

My Grandfather told me this was given to him by a German prisoner his platoon had just captured.
