About POP 

Born Frederick Latham in Tilston, Cheshire on the 5th October 1890. 

 

His parents were Henry and Eliza Latham. He had three sisters Eleanor, Bertha and Annie and two brothers Arthur and Harry.

 

He was a well repected teacher at St. Peters Primary School in Wisbech Cambridgeshire. He voluntered for service in WW1 with the Camdridgeshire Regiment and fought in the trenches in France during the Battle of the Somme.

 

He was awarded the DCM for his bravery during the Battle of The Schwaben Redoubt on the 14th October 1916. After the war he returned to teaching at St. Peters and died at the age of 77 on 25th September 1967.
